County road work set to begin

With the preparatory work now complete, the County’s contractor, Miller Paving Inc., will continue the 2026 double surface treatment program Monday, June 1, weather permitting.
Work will take place between 7 am and 6 pm, Monday to Friday.
Double surface treatment is used on road sections that are at or near complete failure and require significant rehabilitation to extend the service life of the roadway. The work includes rebuilding and stabilizing the road structure, followed by the application of a double layer surface treatment (tar and chip) and fog seal.
Road rehabilitation and double surface treatment will occur on the following roads in 2026:
Salem Road, various spot locations between County Road 2 to west of Carnrike Road
Victoria Road, various spot locations between County Road 23 to east of Badgley Road
County Road 13 from Babylon Road to Civic Address 2183
Carnrike Road from Lakeside Drive to Salem Road
County Road 28 from Massassauga Road to the south entrance of Fenwood Crescent
County Road 35 from Civic Address 823 to Civic Address 1226
Blakely Road from County Road 33 to the end
Traffic control measures will be in place within active construction zones to protect workers and road users. Motorists are asked to remain vigilant, follow posted signage, and reduce speeds when travelling through work areas to ensure the safety of crews and the public.
Construction and road rehabilitation activities completed by the contractor will include:
Pulverizing the existing roadway surface
Localized base repairs and stabilization where required to improve road structure and durability
Re-grading and rebuilding the roadway with an improved granular base for cross-section
Application of a new double surface treatment and fog seal
Adjustment of driveway entrances, where required, to match the new roadway grade
MICRO SURFACING
The County expects micro surfacing applications on two roads will begin Tuesday, May 26.
The work, which will be completed by the County’s contractor Miller Paving Limited, is anticipated to be completed by Friday, May 29, weather dependent.
The work is to be done on:
County Road 14 (Highway 62 to 1435 County Road 14)
County Road 33 (Partridge Hollow Road to 19931 County Road 33)
Micro surfacing is a preventative pavement maintenance treatment that helps extend the service life of asphalt roadways. The treatment seals the road surface to reduce water infiltration into the road base, restores a safe wearing surface, and improves skid resistance through a renewed textured surface.
The process involves a specialized machine that mixes emulsified asphalt, aggregate, filler, water, and additives, which are then applied over the existing asphalt surface. Following a short curing period, the roadway is reopened to traffic.
Permanent pavement markings will be reinstated by the contractor following completion of the micro surfacing work.
This micro surfacing work is part of the County’s 2026 Rural Road Program.
