Midget Kings one point from series win

The Prestige Construction Midgets Kings posted a tie and a loss in weekend playdown action with Lindsay and now sit just one point away from a win in their six-point series.

On Saturday night the Kings travelled to Lindsay and started off well, taking a first-period lead on a goal from Brady Greer, assisted by Zac Brant.  The lead held up until mid-way through the second period when the Muskies scored on the power play.  A few minutes later Greer restored the lead with his second of the game, this time assisted by Taylor Reddick.  Before the period was over Tyler Philip gave the Kings a two-goal lead on a feed from Seth VanVlack.

With their season on the line Lindsay came out strong in the third frame, scoring twice including the tying goal with just thirty-eight seconds left in regulation.  Neither team could score in OT and the 3-3 tie sent the series back to the County.

On Sunday afternoon the Kings hosted game four in Wellington and it was all Lindsay early on as the visitors jumped out to 3-0 lead after the first 15 minutes.  The Kings finally got on the board with six and half minutes left in the second when Jake Staley picked up a Bob Wilson shoot-in and snapped it over the glove of the Muskies keeper.   Lindsay regained their three goal lead early in the third period and the Kings could only close the game to 4-2 on an unassisted effort by Corey Prince.  Rick Holland patrolled the Kings net for both weekend games and this first loss of the series sets up game five in Lindsay this Saturday with game six (if necessary) on Sunday at 3 pm in Wellington.
