The Prestige Construction Midget Kings played a home-and-home series with Ennismore over the weekend and proved they can skate with the league-leading Eagles in either barn. On Friday night the Eagles visited Wellington and escaped with a 1-0 win on a second period goal. Brad Wells did all he could in the Kings net and despite lots of good chances at the other end, the boys couldn’t get on the score sheet.
On Saturday night the Kings were in Ennismore and after giving up the first goal just 30 seconds into the contest, they regrouped and tied things up before the end of the period when Tyler Philip scored on a feed from Scott McQuaid and Brad Reid. The Kings took the lead in the second frame on a Jake Staley goal, assisted by Dallas Hunter. The third period was a wild one as the Eagles scored twice to take a 3-2 lead before Seth VanVlack tied things up with help from McQuaid and Philip. The home squad took a 4-3 lead with just 1:46 left in the game but the Kings never backed down and just seven seconds later, they tied it up for good when VanVlack roofed a feed from Staley. Wells was in the Kings crease for a well-earned 4-4 tie.
The Midget Kings next home game is Saturday at 6:30 when Frontenac comes to Picton.
