Residents in Prince Edward County, Hastings and Northumberland are advised that personnel from the Canadian Special Operations Forces Command will be conducting training in the areas from May 26 to June 26.
“Training will be centered around the communities of Peterborough, Belleville, Campbellford, Bloomfield, Picton, Quinte West, Tweed, and Stirling,” said Captain Pamela Turney, Canadian Special Operations Forces Command.
Residents may notice an increase in military vehicles and aircraft, see uniformed and non-uniformed military personnel with firearms, and hear noises associated with explosives and small arms fire. Only simulated and blank ammunition and explosives will be used as part of this training exercise.
“Thanks to the ongoing support of residents and community members, Canadian Special Operations Forces Command personnel benefit from conducting realistic and challenging training in unfamiliar environments, which prepares them to serve the national interest wherever they operate.”
