The Friends of the Wellington Heritage Museum will kick off the 19th annual Pumpkinfest in Wellington on Saturday with a pancake breakfast at the Wellington Town Hall, 246 Main St beginning at 8 a.m.
Following the 10:30 a.m. parade, the wagon rides will depart from the museum approximately every 20 minutes from 290 Main Street.
A full day of fun is planned. Giant pumpkin (and vegetable) weigh-offs begin at 12:30 at CML Snider School. The festival was started in 1997 by the late Bill Greer who had a vision to bring the community together for a fall harvest festival and to celebrate the accomplishments of local giant pumpkin growers. Greer was the first to weigh a pumpkin in at more than 1,000 pounds.
