National motocross champ to train for 2011 victories

Last year’s Junior A National Canadian motocross champion Brandon Spencer is well on his way to adding more victories to his young career.
Next month the 17-year-old Picton racer will head to Georgia to continue with training from Jean Sebastian-Roy, a five-time Canadian Motocross Champion.
“2010 was the biggest exciting event in my life when I became the Junior A National Canadian Champion being on the stage and receiving a four-foot trophy and a number one plate,” he says. “It was a dream come true.”
It was an extra special win as earlier in the season his yz250r bike “blew up” during the MX3 race and he ended the run in seventh place.
For the 2011 season, Brandon is looking for sponsors to help him complete his goal of becoming a professional motocross racer. Training is expensive and he also hopes to gain support and a special trainer for diet and exercise. This August he will be moving up to the intermediate racing category – one step away from pro level.
In January he received support from the Orange Motosports KTM dealership in Port Hope.
Brandon started motocross racing when he was 10-years-old. By the summer he had moved up a class and finished out the year in first place.
In 2006, on a Kawasaki 85, he placed first in the spring, summer and fall competitions, followed by first place wins in 2007 and 2008.
“In 2009 I raced one day on a track in Mexico, New York. I had never been on the track before and ended up bringing home three second-place trophies in the open amateur, college boy and 250 amateur. That was very exciting.”
That year he also finished in the top three in on his Yamaha 250 in the under 29A and expert events and finished first overall in the Junior B class at the Walton Transcan event.
“I hope to find sponsors to help me along with my career and make my dream of becoming a pro motocross racer come true.”
Brandon is the son of Robert and Tammy Spencer, of Picton. For details on sponsoring Brandon, email tammy.spe@kos.net
