Neil Ellis sworn in as Bay of Quinte’s Member of Parliament

Neil Ellis is officially the new Bay of Quinte riding’s first member of parliament.
More than 100 friends, family members, supporters and media witnessed Ellis take his oath of allegiance in the parliament buildings.
Ellis thanked his supporters, campaign workers and friends for taking the day to make the trip to Ottawa Monday, in two buses and in their own vehicles.
“You are the people who got me here. I thank you again,” he said. “I will work hard for you all.”
Prince Edward County Mayor Robert Quaiff, and his wife Susan, were among more than a dozen County residents in attendance at the ceremony.
“I am looking forward to working with Mr. Ellis over the next few years for the betterment of Prince Edward County,” said Quaiff.
Swearing in ceremonies are ongoing this month. The first session of the 42nd Parliament is to open Thursday, Dec. 3.

The Library of Parliament is a showpiece of high Victorian Gothic Revival architecture. The statue in the centre of the circular, domed room, is of a young Queen Victoria.
