Nominate County’s finest volunteers for recognition

The Wellings of Picton, Prince Edward County’s new adult lifestyle community, will launch a new PEC Volunteer Recognition Award program.

“A call for nominations begins today, and we are asking the community to submit a nomination on behalf of a volunteer who you think has made a significant impact to our wonderful community” says Rachel Henry, marketing manager at Wellings of Picton. “In all of our combined years working in retirement living and 55 plus adult community settings, we’ve seen volunteerism at its best. Daily, we see dozens of volunteers working tirelessly within our communities, and our residents have either spent countless hours of their lives in a volunteer role, or continue to do so. It is not only part of the fabric of this industry , but the fabric of Canadian seniors as well. 42 per cent of the volunteer workforce are in the fifty five plus category. Prince Edward County is a shining example of that selfless commitment where thousands of volunteer hours are spent on countless worthy projects. We want to recognize and celebrate all volunteers during National Volunteer Week.”

Nominations will be accepted in four categories this year:
– Community Builder Award to recognize an individual who has shown exemplary leadership in a volunteer capacity
– The Caring County Award for a PEC resident who continually shows outstanding compassion and has inspired others to do so.

– The Lifelong Achievement Award for a person who has tirelessly volunteered their time and made a significant impact on our community.

– The Exceptional Youth Award which will recognize the contribution of an individual under the age of 21 through youth engagement.

Nomination forms can be picked up at the Wellings of Picton leasing office at 320 Main Street from Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and at the Picton Gazette office located at 267 Main Street, Picton, until Thursday, March 31st, the submission deadline.

On April 13th, a celebration of volunteers will be held at
The Waring house during a luncheon, in their honour.
