CHARLES ‘RAY’ LITTLEFAIR– Passed away at the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital, Picton on Thursday, September 29th, 2011, Charles Ray Littlefair, of Wellington, in his 85th year. Loving husband of Pamela. Dear father of Roger and his wife Allison of Nova Scotia. Special grandfather to Aiden. Predeceased by his five sisters and five brothers all in the UK. Ray arrived in Canada on September 3rd, 1953. He was an avid gardener and woodworker and he will take with him his fond memories of his time spent hunting with friends. She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd Seeley and her parents Mary and Edgar Rist. Doris will be missed by her children and their families: Jo-Ann and Don Ward and Sybil and Sophie; Douglas and Debbie and Shannon and Steacy, Cameron and Jacob, Leslie and Dean and Keely, Reese and Brie and Corrine, Kayla and Brendan and Chris and Rosaleen and Heather and Scott and Madisson, and Joe, Ciaran and Joseph. Doris is survived by her dear sister Helen Wannamaker and by Carl and June Seeley and Mildred Fennell. She was predeceased by her siblings Annie Nicholas, Robert Rist, Alice Seeley and Edward Rist. She was also predeceased by Helen and Mordern Walker, Graham and Rowena Seeley and their families. She is well remembered by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She is well remembered too, by many neighbours, customers and friends throughout her years in Picton and most recently Napanee. LEPA FERRIS – In her 90th year. Lepa Ferris, formerly of Ajax, Ontario, died peacefully at Hallowell House Nursing Home in Picton, Ontario, on Tuesday, July 12, 2011. Born February 18,1922, in Bosanksi Novi, Bosnia, she was the daughter of the late Vukica and Vasilije Jankovic. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Harry Ferris. Together they operated Ferris Textiles in Ajax, Ontario, after a daring escape to freedom in Canada from the former Yugoslavia in 1952. Her only sibling, a sister Mina of Croatia, preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving son, Fred Z. Ferris, and his wife Keltie of Virginia, 3 grandchildren: Sonja Florman, Charles Ferris, and Keltie Ferris, 3 great-grandchildren: Ferris, Henry and Lola Florman, and a niece and nephew, Hrvoje and Gordana Perkovic of Croatia. Her family is grateful for the exceptionally loving and attentive care she received from the staff at The Carriage House, a retirement home in Cherry Valley where she resided for the past 7 years: Richard Diamond, Jane Crump, Barbara Smith, Faith Wiik, as well as from her physician, Dr. Norah Connell. REV. WALTER A. DONOVAN – August 3, 1925- July 5, 2011 – Rev. Walter Donovan died suddenly and peacefully in his residence in Prince Albert on Tuesday, July 5. Picton area residents came to know Walter as a man-about-town while he lived here during 2009 and 2010. The father of Rev. Lynne Donovan, minister at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Picton, he moved back to his native Ontario from Saskatchewan where he had spent most of his life. Last year he moved back to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and worked as an assistant church minister. In Picton, he resided in a little house on Chapel Street. The octogenarian could be spotted striding briskly on his daily one-mile morning walk, or stooped at a street corner pulling weeds and picking up litter, or striking up a conversation with patrons at an outdoor cafe on Main Street, or welcoming unsuspecting tourists with a song or reciting poetry. He was predeceased by his wife Gaye in 2008. He is survived by Lynne Donovan (Phil Norton), Cole and Luke, Kerry Donovan (Flavia Rossi), Hannah, Andrew Donovan and Anna-Marie Donovan (David Black), Trystan and Emma. A traditional Mexican memorial service was conducted at his home in Lake Chapala, Mexico as a rare tribute to the respect of his good name and his service to the local community, to be followed by a celebration of life attended by friends both Mexican and International. Alex was a proud patriot and the red maple leaf always flew from any residence wherever he was in the world. KELSO (MOE) MAURICE – RCMP 35 years – Moe passed away peacefully on April 9th, 2011 in Picton, ON after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Julie Graham and the late Marg Samuels. He will be greatly missed by his son Kevin (Nancy Sommerville) of Belleville and daughter Jennifer (Craig Charlesworth) of Langley, BC and by grandchildren Victoria, Soleil, Zachary, Tyson and MacKenzie. Also survived by brother Bryan (Verna) and many nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Roblin, Manitoba, Moe came to Ottawa to join the RCMP in the 1950s. He was a sportsman all his life as a player, coach and fan. He was a dedicated Mason and member of the Canadian Legion in both Ottawa and Arundel, Quebec and he had a keen interest in participating in community affairs. In accordance with Moe’s wishes there will be no formal funeral service. A “Celebration of His Life” will be held in Ottawa at a date to be announced. RODNEY CECIL ANDERSON – January 3, 2011 – Peacefully in Picton, husband of the late Margaret, father of Brian (Arlene) of Vancouver and the late Jim (Wendy) of Picton, grandfather of Jessica, Brent, Natalie and Rachel, brother of the late Ed (Aida), Les (Helen), the late Dorothy (Ken) Brown and Pat (Charlie) Tomlin, brother-in-law of Donald (Betty) Southwick, Lorraine Southwick and Dorothy (Joe) Babiak, and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Born in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario on October 4, 1919 and raised in Nipissing Junction, as a young man, Rod rode the rails and worked in mines and construction camps across Northern Ontario. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1939 and was radio operator in the R.C.H.A. First Canadian Division in Sicily, Italy, Holland and Germany until 1945. Rod enjoyed working with his hands and built a cottage in Lake Simcoe, a house in Scarborough and his dream home on Lake Ontario in Wellington. He was an avid reader of history, a gardener and grower of apples. A family memorial will be held at a later date. Rod’s family wishes to thank the staff at Hallowell House for their compassion and excellent care.
