OPP charge second person in relation to armed robbery and auto theft

UPDATE DEC. 2: Prince Edward OPP has charged a second individual in connection with the armed robbery and vehicle theft that occurred at a Picton gas station on Nov. 22.

As part of the investigation, officers have charged a 27-year-old Picton resident with Obstruct Peace Officer and Fail to comply with probation order.

She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton at a later date.

UPDATE NOV. 24: A 22-year-old Picton resident has been charged in relation to the armed robbery and vehicle theft Saturday at a Picton gas station.

He is now facing charges of:
Robbery using firearm (restricted or prohibited)
Unauthorized possession of a firearm
Theft of motor vehicle
Disguise with intent
Dangerous operation
Flight from peace officer – two counts
Failure to comply with release order – two counts

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville for a bail hearing.

 

NOV. 22: Prince Edward County Crime Unit is investigating a call about an armed robbery and vehicle theft Saturday, Nov. 22 shortly before 1:30 a.m.

Police were told a male suspect entered a gas station in downtown Picton, allegedly armed with a handgun. After the robbery, the suspect fled the scene in a stolen vehicle.

Through a coordinated effort involving the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, OPP Emergency Response Team, the Canine Unit and Lennox & Addington OPP, the stolen vehicle was quickly located and seized.

The male suspect remains at large and is described as a white male, 6’0, with a large build, brown curly hair and wearing a red hoodie with white writing, tan pants, and black shoes.

The Prince Edward County Crime Unit is continuing the investigation..
