Art demonstrations, entertainment, photography, sidewalk sales and an evening of live entertainment highlighted this weekend’s Streetfest celebrations in Picton.

County Artists were invited to set up easels all over town to paint ‘En Plein Air’. The public was invited to observe the artists and bid on their creations in a silent auction at The Regent Theatre with proceeds to Alternatives for Women and the PEC Arts Council. The Tine Rufaro Marimba Band, from Ottawa, performed at the  Streetfest Saturday in front of the Armoury. The Tine Rufaro Marimba band performs traditional African music on marimbas (hand crafted xylophones made from hardwood).

The Eastern Ontario Photo Show – CLIC – opened Saturday. The show was established last year to celebrate photography as an art form and showcases the creative vision of photographers from across Eastern Ontario. The event exhibits work from more than 100 photographers through to Aug. 7, on the second floor Gallery at Books & Company, Main Street Picton. The show is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Local retailers held mid-summer sales and dining establishments offered local harvest on their menus. The Artisan Market was also held Saturday with local arts, crafts and produce in an European Style Market in the Royal Walkway.

The day wrapped up with the second annual CountyStock free concert at Delhi Park  featuring Instant Rivalry, Craig Foster Band, Dusty Hawly, Time Line, Ras Bingi Catt and Mr. Burns.
