Picton marina open for business

The Picton Marina is open for business following the replacement of the fuel tanks and piping system.

The County re-opened the boat launch and began distributing fuel May 24, after receiving approvals from both the Technical Standards and Safety Authority and Electrical Safety Authority.

“We are very pleased to restore regular services at the marina, and appreciate the public’s patience as we completed this mandatory upgrade,” says Preston Parkinson, Director of Operations.

Landscaping and paving at the site will continue into June. Full access to marina facilities will be maintained while the site improvements are completed.

I do not know how to start this conversation WRT the Picton harbour but maybe I can receive some clarification from people that may have been at the council meeting or maybe this has yet to be discussed. Either the Federal or Provincial government transferred the Picton harbour to the municipal level with a grant of $500k if I am not mistaken in order for the municipal to assume responsibility of the operation and maintenance of it. Are the fuel tanks placed on public property and has there been any funds set aside for improvement to the area? For instance, the boardwalk or other privately owned property? I am not sure but is this not a violation? I agree with using funds for improvements to publicly owned land but not to benefit private owners. Any thoughts or clarification would be appreciated.
