The Picton Pirates’ first home game in more than 570 days due to the COVID-19 pandemic is Thursday when they host the Campbellford Rebels at Huff Estates arena. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

Saturday night, the Pirates scored three goals in the third period to skate away from the host Frankford Huskies 6-1. The village welcomed back junior hockey to the Dr. McMullen Recreation Centre for the first time since the mid 1980s.

Landon McLellan had a pair goals for Picton while Devin Morrison, Hunter Matthysse, Nate Brant and Owen Dever also scored.

Earlier this year, General Manager Jason Parks announced former Pirate alum Kyle Hawkins Schulz as head coach for the 2021-22 season.

The former West Lake resident who now works for the City of Belleville is also familiar with the Pirates bench area as he was an assistant coach under then-coach and GM Ryan Woodward in 2013 when the club earned its first Schmalz Cup title, defeating the Essex 73s in five games to capture the Ontario title.
