Pint-sized powerhouse gives her all for Cancer Society fundraiser

Gabrielle sits in a circle of family luminaries during the County's first Relay for Life event last year. She'll return for this year's event Friday, June 10.

Gabby gives the thumbs up at Wednesday's final Relay for Life Captain's meeting.

Gabrielle Kinnear is a pint-sized powerhouse who wants to participate in Prince Edward County’s second annual Relay for Life Cancer Society fundraiser “because the people in heaven need someone to keep loving them”.
Gabrielle is five-years-old.
In memory of people she has never met, she raised funds and walked for 10 hours during the County’s first Relay last year. And she will be back on the track at the Picton fairgrounds next Friday even though she’s having her tonsils and adnoids out this week.
“She said she still wants to participate even though her doctor has told her she will have a sore throat,” says mom Catherine Ingram-Kinnear. “It makes me so proud to see her at this young age wanting to make a difference. She wants to walk for people she has never met, but knows they mean the world to her family – such as Dick and Mabel Cole, her great grandparents, and for her Memaw’s childhood friend Robert Urich. As a proud mommy I will do what I can to help her.”
Gabby is a member of Team Mopar – including Sherry Grimmon, Brad Grimmon, Nancy Reeks, David Stock and Kelly Stock.
“She is a five-year-old with a big heart and she’s walking for so many loved ones in her family who have passed away due to cancer, and those who are fighting it.
“She has always been interested in helping others. She walked in two Breast Cancer events in Kingston with my sister Kelly Ingram-Stock. Wanting to make a difference is so important to her.
“I asked Gabby ‘Why do you want to walk in Relay for Life?’ She said ‘Because the people in heaven need someone to keep loving them.’ I asked ‘Who do you love, Gabby?’ She said ‘Mommy, I love them all, silly Mommy’.
“She asked: ‘Mommy, you think they walk in heaven?’ and I said yes Gabby they are walking with you on this special day. Gabby said, ‘Cool.’
“We thank all who have pledged Garbielle so far. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
Gabby is still taking pledges from anyone who wishes to support her campaign. The Team Mopar Relay for Life pledge information page is
