More than 1,100 children in Prince Edward and Hastings counties do not have warm winter coats and boots.
The Adopt-a-Child program has been collecting donations all year round to help keep children warm.
The program, operated by local police departments and volunteers, assists low income working families and those on assistance to receive new winter outerwear for children aged 12 and under.
Anthony Mann, PEC OPP Community Services Officer, said families in the County are invited to register for the program at the Prince Edward OPP station, 569 County Road 1, Picton, in September.
Dates include:
Monday, Sept. 14 to Wednesday, Sept. 18 from noon to 4 p.m.
Monday, Sept. 21 to Friday, Sept. 25 from noon to 8 p.m.
Monday, Sept. 28 to Wednesday, Sept. 30 from noon to 4 p.m.
For those wishing to complete a Radio Adoption, adoptions will take place throughout the month of October.
Donations to the cause are always welcome. Call 613-969-5555 and a charitable receipt will be issued. Cheques may be mailed to: Adopt-A-Child Belleville Police Service 93 Dundas St., E Belleville, ON K8N 1C2
