Prince Edward County man died in Hwy 401 incident

A Prince Edward County man has been identified as the man struck and killed on Highway 401 Saturday afternoon.

Officers from the Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a tractor trailer on Highway 401 westbound lanes about 1 km east of Highway 15 in Kingston.

The pedestrian, Robert B. Gale, 62, of Prince Edward County, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) were called to assist with the investigation. Highway 401 westbound lanes were detoured at Joyceville Road until they were re-opened.

As a result of the investigation, OPP do not anticipate any charges against the transport driver.
