Project Griswald bust focus on prescrption drugs

In response to concerns from the community regarding the illegal sale of prescription medication, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Drug Enforcement Unit commenced a 30-day investigation, which has resulted in several local residents being charged with offences against the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and the Criminal Code.

An operation dubbed “Project Griswold” concluded Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013 when members of the OPP Drug Enforcement Unit, the Community Drug Action Team, OPP Emergency Response Team, members of the Prince Edward OPP Detachment and an OPP canine officer with assistance of the Belleville Police, the Gananoque Police and the Brockville Police, executed search warrants at four residences in Picton.

Police seized Cannabis Marijuana, Psilocybin, Oxycodone, and Hydro-Morphine Contin with an estimated street value of more than $80,000 as well as a large amount of cash.

As a result of the investigation 11 people between the ages of 22 and 51 were charged with various offences. They are to appear in court in Picton, on Oct. 2, 2013.
Charges include trafficking, production and possession of various drugs including cocaine, cannabis, psilocybin (mushrooms), oxycodone and hydromorph contin.
