QE students rose to challenges in marathon of hope

Queen Elizabeth School students accepted a challenge to raise $1 per student ($275) to support Terry Fox’s dream to fight cancer.
“We knew our Tigers could live up to the challenge so we then extended the challenge to  raise $350 and Mrs. Bannister would shave her head into a mohawk,” explains principal Launderville, who then extended the challenge to $500 and he too would shave his head into mohawk.
Students showed their pride and raised $600 and counting for the fight against cancer.  Last week, joined by some of parents, they celebrated Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope, and recognized loved ones affected by cancer by walking through the Picton community with their signs held high and their Tiger pride beaming.
“Cars honked, spectators clapped and cheered, and students, parents and staff showed how the Tiger pride can have an impact on both a community and a global scale,” said Launderville.
Upon returning to the school, Mrs. Bannister and Mr. Launderville held up to their part of the commitment and had their hair shaved by parent volunteer Elisha Young.

Friday, the PECI Panthers will participate in their Marathon of Hope.
