Vote today! – Queen Elizabeth PS in running for McDougall Family Fund Community Initiative – ends Nov. 29

Out of numerous entries, Queen Elizabeth School (Picton) is one of the five Finalists in the $5000 McDougall Family Fund Community Initiative.

At Queen Elizabeth School (Picton) our School Council is working to create outdoor learning spaces that will support curriculum, environmental stewardship, and beautification of the school grounds. This money would be used in the spring of 2013 to allow the school to create an area with benches, gardens (with various fauna and native plants that attract local wildlife like birds and butterflies) and other natural space for student instruction. This area would be created to not only help students learn, but also an area where students can have sensory breaks and quiet space during recess and outdoor activities. The project will benefit the entire student body as we involve students, parents and community members in planning, creating and maintaining the area. It will also benefit members of the community that use our school grounds outside of the learning day.
