Overkill Evolution and Iron Warrior smashed everything in sight leaving throngs of fans screaming for more destruction at Brighton Speedway Saturday night.
Mikey Vaters II in Overkill Evolution and Matt Cody in Iron Warrior thrilled fans young and old at the 1/3rd mile clay oval. From an exciting intro that saw the trucks leap onto the track simultaneously from corners 1 and 2, to a roll over by Iron Warrior on the front stretch, the Vater’s Motorsports drivers put on a show for all.
It’s raining checkers for Rayner
At the drop of the green flag No. 55 Bradley Rayner took off from his pole sitting position and dominated all 30-laps of the Vanderlaan Building Products Ltd. Late Model main event.
No. 07 Tim Kerr fought hard from the high side as Rayner stuck to the inside. Lapped traffic slowed the leader allowing Kerr to catch up but Rayner was determined to score his second dirt-career win of the season as he sailed to victory lane leaving Kerr to settle for second. No. 46 Brandon Mowat worked his way up from his 7th starting position to earn a third-place finish. No. 29 Phil Potts took home fourth and No. 89 Austin King fifth.
Hennessy earns third season victory
No. 1 Shawn Gregory and No. 3 Nathan Rinaldi thrilled fans in a back and forth affair for the first for 14 laps of the 25-lap Bainer’s OilGARD Canadian Modified feature. The pair battled hard as No. 87 pushed his way up through the field from the back of the pack. Rinaldi held the lead for 4 laps, working to hold of Hennessy but a tacky high side worked in the 87’s favour as he snapped first on the 15th time by. Hennessy went on to park it in victory lane, with Gregory in runner-up, Rinaldi third, No. 07 Curtis King finished fourth and Campbellford Chrysler driver of the week No. 99 Linc Brown fifth.
Anderson parks it
Eager to get back to victory lane, No. 85 Austin Reid and No. 72 Doug Anderson waged an exhilarating feud throughout the 25-lap Brighton Automotive Thunder Stock Larry’s Towing Triple Crown Race 2. Reid jumped on the lead on the first lap and held a strong command while Anderson and No. 53 Wade Purchase were menaces on his back bumper. Reid continued to keep his cool while a caution riddled affair continued to slow the pace. For the last 5 laps Reid and Anderson traded the lead but with just 2 laps to go Anderson pulled away on the restart and parked it. Purchase’s perseverance paid for a second-place finish, Reid scored third, No. 92 Adam Turner was fourth and No. 17 Jeff Humphry in fifth.
Back to back victories for Moore and Bailey
Campbellford Chrysler Driver of the week No. 44 Tommy Bailey has developed a thirst for victory. Coming off his first dirt-career win last Saturday he was bound and bent to do it again during the Bill’s John’s Comp 4 20-lap feature. On the 14th time by he snatched up the lead from No. 13 Joel Dempster and sailed to victory lane. Dempster finished second, No. 43 Devon Kippen third, No. 4 Chris Tufford fourth and No. 19 Jordan Baldwin fifth.
A solid run for No. 14m Matthew Moore as he secured his fourth win of the season in the 20-lap Insta Panels Duel in the Dirt Mini Stock Home Race 2.
