Real estate residential sales increase 5.7%

Real estate numbers in the Quinte area for August show an increase of 1.1% over last year. There were 269 overall units sold compared to 266 sold for the same month in 2013.
The residential portion of the sold units was 240 in 2014 and 227 in 2013, reflecting a modest increase of 5.7 per cent, said Michelle Norlock, president of the Quinte & District Association of Realtors.

“The August average residential sale price in 2014 was 3.9 per cent higher than 2013, coming in at $233,528 compared to $224,739 last year. August also reflected a minor increase in new residential listings, compared with last year, with 436 in 2014 and 433 in 2013.

“Mortgage rates remain at historic lows, ensuring the Quinte region continues to offer affordable homes along with wise investment opportunities,” said Norlock. “There are many wonderful locations to start or move your business and this continues to be a great area to begin a new family or down-size after your kids have moved away from home.”
