Real estate sales mark increase in July

The Quinte and district real estate market showed a 12.9 per cent increase in overall sales for July.
Association president Michelle Norlock said monthly numbers for July show there were 358 overall units sold compared to 317 sold for the same month last year.
“The residential portion of the sold units was 317 for 2014 and 271 for 2013, reflecting an increase of 17.0 per cent,” she said in her report.

“The July average residential sale price in 2014 was 7.5 per cent higher than 2013, coming in at $233,744 compared to $217,460 last year. July also reflected an increase in new residential listings with 593 in 2014 and 544 in 2013.”

Norlock said mortgage rates continue to remain at record lows and this has helped boost the sale numbers for the month.

“The year to date numbers are evening out, close to last year’s number, so it will be interesting to see how the remainder of this year progresses.”
