Recall expanded for PC Organics baby food

PC Organics brand baby food has been recalled due to the potential presence of dangerous bacteria. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency notes a manufacturing error resulted in excess water in the products which could support the growth of Clostridium Botulinum.

The recall was originally issued Feb. 3 due to a consumer complaint and has since been expanded by Loblaw Co to include 32 varieties of strained baby food.

In Ontario the brand is sold at No Frills, valu-mart, Your Independent Grocer, Shoppers Drug Mart, Zehrs, Loblaws, Fortinos, Real Canadian Superstore and Wholesale Club and affiliated independent stores.

Food contaminated with Costridium botulinum toxin could cause nausea, vomiting, fatigue, dizziness, blurred or double vision, dry mouth, respiratory failure and paralysis. Sever cases can lead to death.
