Record-breaking warm temperatures continued for a second day with the mercury reaching 26.8C degrees by mid afternoon Wednesday. The previous record was 25C degrees in 1954 (both figures measured by Environment Canada at Trenton).
Above seasonal warmth has been experienced throughout September and the forecast for Thursday, Oct. 5 is for another warm, humid day, again feeling like 29C.
However, a polar vortex is forecast to push out the summer heat and usher in a chilly fall just in time for the Thanksgiving weekend. The weather is expected to turn cooler than average over the weekend with rain beginning Friday and temperatures forecast at 12C with showers Saturday and Sunday, and overnight temperatures in single digits.
Normal highs for early October are about 16 degrees.
