grapesofwrathThere will be mud, there will be pain, and you will never be the same. Can you handle it?

The committee organizing September’s Grapes of Wrath event were pleased to announce the winner of the Justin Timberlake 20/20 Experience Tour tickets.

Paul Eyles, a Stirling, ON resident and member of the team, Harry’s Mudrauders was the lucky winner of two tickets to next week’s concert in Ottawa.

Those who registered between June 1 and July 11 were entered into a draw to win two Justin Timberlake 20/20 Experience Tour tickets for Ottawa on July 22, 2014.   Thirty-seven participants were eligible, but Eyles walked away the winner.

“Attending a concert has never been easier. All Paul had to do was visit our website, and register to participate in the Grapes of Wrath before July 11th,” said Wendy Warner, executive director of the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation. “With 42 teams and 275 participants registered, this is sure to be an adrenaline-charged event and there is no better way for Paul to kick off the excitement surrounding Grapes than to attend J.T.’s concert next week.”

The Canadian Cancer Society –HPE and Brighton Community Office, in a partnership with the PECMH Foundation and the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation are proud to present the inaugural Grapes of Wrath, a harrowing five kilometre run complete with daunting obstacles sure to test your ability to have fun in the face of adversity.

The gruelling course, designed by Canadian military volunteers, will challenge your resilience, strength and stamina while trudging over, under and through grapevines and splashing through the winery’s namesake creek while building the courage to overcome uncompromising, mud stricken obstacles whilst raising money for cancer care in our communities.

“This race will provide a perfect blend of charity and camaraderie as challengers come together as teams or individuals to participate in this fun and inspiring event while collecting pledges for much needed medical equipment for patients using our hospitals and for patients receiving cancer treatment,” said Amy Doyle, manager of the Hastings-Prince Edward County and Brighton Cancer Society Community Office.

Registration is $100.00, per participant. The race is open to individuals or teams of two to 20 and registrations have been coming in every day.

Competitors must be 18 years or older on race day (September 13, 2014) to be eligible to run. Racers will receive a dry-fit t-shirt and upon completion of the race, dog tags. More information and registration links can be found by visiting our website, or on Facebook,

For those who are interested, but may not wish to participate, there are volunteer openings available. There are also sponsorship opportunities offered for interested businesses.

For 75 years, the Canadian Cancer Society has been with Canadians in the fight for life. We have been relentless in our commitment to prevent cancer, fund research and support Canadians touched by cancer. From this foundation, we will work with Canadians to change cancer forever so fewer Canadians are diagnosed with the disease and more survive.

The PECMH and TMH Foundations support their respective hospitals by raising funds and awareness of the need to assist in the provision of priority medical equipment and services for all patients and residents of our communities. It is through the generosity of our donors that our doctors, nurses and technologists can provide quality health care to the patients at PECM and TM Hospital.
