Russians looking for a hat trick in Wellington tonight

The Russians are coming and they’re looking for a hat trick when they face off against the Wellington Dukes tonight at 7 p.m. at the new Wellington arena. The Red Stars trounced teams in Stratford and Niagara Falls this week.
The Red Stars is a team comprised of players considered for their national junior team as well as some graduate players. The Russian Junior National Team is playing in the IIHF World Junior Championships and will meet Canada in Wednesday’s gold-medal game.
Wellington’s game will be the first international competition at the new arena thanks to corporate sponsors including McDougall Stanton Insurance Brokers, Picton Home Hardware Building Centre, Prinzen Ford of Bloomfield and Subway.
Advance and reserved tickets are sold out but there will be some tickets available at the door beginning at 5 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Red Stars travelled to Canada to play three exhibition games against teams from the OHA.
By the end of the opening 20 minutes on New Year’s Day playing the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League Golden Horseshoe Conference All-Star Team, the Red Stars had stormed the junior Bs for six goals, en route to a 7-4 victory at a noisy Gale Centre in Niagara Falls.
The Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League Midwestern All Stars came up short against Russia last night at the Allman Arena in Stratford. Russia pounded the Midwestern squad 11-3. comprised a GOJHL Mid-Western Conference.
