Body recovered from Bay of Quinte

UPDATE March 5:  The body of an adult male has been recovered from the Bay of Quinte just east of the Norris Whitney Bridge.
Shortly after the noon hour Monday, members of the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit launched a search of the area where the male was last known to be.  Several hours later officers located the male and brought him to shore at 4:30pm.

The deceased was 44 yrs old and lived in Quinte West.  Foul play is not suspected and his name will not be released.

A passing motorist on the Norris Whitney Bridge discovered an abandoned automobile at the peak of the bridge at midnight Sunday night.
The motorist checked the vehicle and reported hearing a man’s voice calling out from the water below.
Prince Edward OPP constable Kim Guthrie reports emergency crews were called to the scene but the victim’s voice could no longer be heard.  A search and rescue helicopter from 8 Wing CFB Trenton searched the area until 4 am but the victim was not found.
The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit as well as the Snowmachine All Terrain Vessel Enforcement Unit are continuing the recovery mission this morning.
The identity of the victim is known but will not be released.
