Search warrant results in drugs seized

A search warrant this morning on the outskirts of Picton resulted in police seizing drugs and charging a 35-year-old woman.

Friday, Jan. 5th members of the Prince Edward County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment with the assistance of the Tactical Response Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Canine Unit (K9) and Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed the search warrant.

As a result, a large amount of cocaine and crack cocaine was seized, along with marijuana and other evidence of drug trafficking. Police estimate the drugs seized represent an approximate street value of $22,000.

A 35-year-old female from Picton has been charged with two counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000. She was released on a Promise to Appear and has a court appearance in the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on March 14, 2018.

The investigation is ongoing.
