Second report of suspicious man approaching teens

Prince Edward OPP are calling on parents to speak to their children about staying safe if approached by a stranger following a second report in as many days of a suspicious man in Picton.

On Friday morning at 8:05am the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Prince Edward County detachment were called to York Street near Mary St.

The report was that a motor vehicle was observed driving slowly past a female teen. The male driver was operating an older style pick-up truck, dark in colour. The driver appeared to be 40 years of age or older, have a stocky build and no facial hair.

OPP continue to investigate an incident that took place yesterday morning where a teenaged female was walking in the area of Pitt and York Street, Picton when a motor vehicle approached her.

That report was that a lone male driver opened the passenger side door and instructed her to get in the vehicle and he would give her a drive. The female refused and the male drove off. The male was driving a grey or dark coloured pick-up truck and is described as being 50-years of age, heavy build, dark hair and beard, has a deep voice and was wearing a T-shirt and sunglasses.

It is unknown if the incidents are related. OPP confirm that no offence has taken place in either incident, however, are looking to speak with the male driver(s) involved and are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying them.
