Second Time Around ‘targets’ new look

STAS-2The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary shop has re-opened with a brand-new look.

“What started out as minor renovations turned out to be in fact a bit more than that,” said the auxiliary’s Dorothy Speirs-Vincent. “The store was stripped to the bare walls and, with the help of a team of auxiliary volunteers, rooms were moved around and walls and units repainted. A completely new floor has been laid, sealed and waxed.”

Under the leadership of store manager Pam Strachan, contact was made with the Target company, which was closing down its stores in Canada.

STAS-1“The Second Time Around Shop was able STAS-4to purchase a large amount of almost-new shelving and units for a very reasonable price,” said Speirs-Vincent. “The big job, of course, was to break these units down and bring them back to Picton. Nine volunteers spent a day loading and unloading a truck, a SUV with a trailer and even a horse trailer and bringing everything back to the store.”

While the store boasts its new new look, there will be more to come over the next few weeks when an extensive space is to be added to the current location. More news to come, said Speirs-Vincent.
