The County of Prince Edward is partnering with the Canadian Wildlife Federation (CWF) to convert an unused road allowance into a pollinator-friendly corridor.
The CWF partners with organizations to provide funding and expertise to habitat restoration projects. The goal is to conserve the habitat of monarch butterflies and to provide additional feeding and nesting habitat for hundreds of other pollinators and meadow species.
County staff plan to work at the intersection of Bethesda Road and Fry Road from Wednesday, Oct. 15 to Friday, Oct. 31 planting native pollinator-friendly plants along the right of ways at the intersection. The work will also include some clearing of sight lines as well as removal of some invasive species.
The section of Bethesda Road connecting to Fry Road will be closed from Wednesday, October 15 to Friday, October 17 to allow for access to these areas. Motorists are asked to approach the site with caution or avoid the work area.
