Good food and wine and great community support for hospital

Six-Barrels-cheque-photo-1Great food, wine and community combined to create an outpouring of $7,500 for the  Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation.

More than 200 guests attending this summer’s 8th annual Six Barrels for Six Chefs event at Huff Estates Winery raised the funds dedicated for priority medical equipment needs at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital.

“Your attendance and support at these community events allows us to continue purchasing lifesaving medical equipment for our doctors, nurses and technologists,” said Foundation chairman Leo Finnegan. “We can’t wait to see what Lanny, Catharine, Jason and the staff at Huff Estates have in store for us in 2015 as next year’s Six Barrels event will again benefit the hospital. From all of the staff, volunteers and patients at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital, thank you.”

2014-Bake-Off-ChallengeCommunity members baking and buying raised $1,870 in support of the  Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation.

The funds were raised at the 7th annual Bake Off Challenge held at this year’s Picton Fair.
Susie Harrington, director of home crafts and founder of the Bake Off Challenge said this has been the best Bake Off Challenge to date. The event raised double what it did last year for priority medical equipment needs at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital. Larry Lounsberry, president of the PE Agricultural Society lauded Harrington for her hard work in ensuring the Bake Off is a success for the hospital.

CHEERS! are extended to the Bake Off Challenge judges Ken Menlove, Don King and Mary Everall and auctioneer Creighton Carr.
