UPDATE DEC. 29: The County of Prince Edward has ended its significant weather event declaration issued Friday, Dec. 23 as conditions have improved enough to allow the municipality to meet its winter maintenance objectives.
Crews will continue to work to clear roads and sidewalks and will be removing snow along roadsides in Picton overnight Dec. 29 and Dec. 30 in the following areas: east and west ends of Picton Main Street, and several side streets including King Street and Mary Street.
Snow has been removed along the main streets in Wellington and Bloomfield. Crews will return to clear snow on the side streets in the coming days.
Primary sidewalks have been cleared as well as a majority of secondary sidewalks.
The County reminds the public that seasonal sidewalk closures are in effect by bylaw that designates specific sidewalks are not maintained during the winter. These are sidewalks that the municipality has not previously performed winter maintenance on, or is unable to do so due to physical obstacles. DEC. 28: The County is extending its significant weather event declaration made Dec. 23 for at least another 24 hours as it continues to widen secondary roads to meet minimum standards.
A majority of sidewalks have been cleared and work continues to clear the remaining secondary sidewalks.
Crews cleared snow along roadsides in Picton on Dec. 27-28 and will continue in Wellington and possibly Bloomfield in the evening of Dec. 28-29.
