Remembering the 100th Anniversary of World War One, this exhibit also examines the role ofQuakers as conscientious objectors, with particular emphasis on the Quaker communities of Wellington and Bloomfield.

August 2014 – Historic Walking Tours:

Milford Meanderings Walking Tour – Thursday nights 6:30 p.m. – 1.5 hours walking tour through the charming village of Milford, aptly named as it wasonce home to saw, grist and carding mills in the settlement’s earliest days.
Graveyard & Gallows Walking Tour – Friday nights in Picton. 6:30 p.m. – 1.5 hours walking tour through the grounds and graveyard at Macaulay Heritage Park, venturing on to the neighbouring County Ghost & Gallows, the site of a most notorious double hanging in 1884.
Wellington Walkabout Tour – Saturday mornings 10 a.m. – 1 1\2 hr. walking tours through the rich history of Wellington village on the shore of Lake Ontario with architectural highlights and fascinating stories that will make you love the village all the more!
Ameliasburgh Village Walking Tour – Sunday mornings 11 a.m. – 1.5 hour walking tour through the village of Ameliasburgh, formerly Roblin’s Mills. Along the shores of Roblin Lake, there is a quiet little community with a big history. The village is hidden gem in Prince Edward County and beloved home of the lat
e Canadian poet, Al Purdy.

Until October 18, 2014 – Pancake Breakfasts at the Wellington Town Hall
Celebrate both Canada Day and Pumpkinfest with a hearty homemade pancake breakfast presented by the Friends of the Wellington Heritage Museum. Wagon rides will also depart from the museum (approximately every 20 minutes) at 290 Main Street – after the parade.

August 31, 2014 – Heritage Activity Day – Fun for the whole family!
Watch the heritage trades at work! Explore the pioneer village, alive with costumed folk interpreting a 19th Century way of life. Tasting stations will be around the village for sampling heritage recipes and stay for the corn roast and musical entertainment too.

September 13, 2014 – Annual German Dinner at Rose House

September 29 to October 3, 2014 – The “Starlab” at Macaulay Heritage Park
A special travelling exhibit is coming from the Royal Ontario Museum, reserved during the day exclusively for visiting schools! Participants crawl into the Starlab and sit around a central projector to experience the stars and the constellations around them! Book your class early! Special evening program for the general public on Thursday, October 2nd.

November 29 and December 6 & 13, 2014 – Wassail by Candlelight at Macaulay House
Take a break from the bustle and travel back in time to an 1850s holiday season! The kitchen hearth will offer an array of heritage foods to sample. Period decorations, aglow in candlelight, will fill the young and the young-at-heart with true Christmas spirit. Pick up special stocking stuffers from the museum’s unique gift shop. Held on Wassail weekends, a fantastic annual event hosted by the Prince Edward County Winegrowers Association.

December 6, 2014 – Christmas in the Village
Tour around various destinations in Ameliasburgh Village. Plan a stop at the Town Hall and decorate Christmas cookies and evergreens; drop by the Museum’s log cabin to experience an authentic settler Christmas; crafts and activities will be at the Victoria Schoolhouse and the Al Purdy Branch Library as well! This is a FREE family – friendly event!
