Realtors at RE/MAX Quinte Ltd. in Prince Edward County are once again teeing up to improve the care patients receive at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital.

On Tuesday, June 13 RE/MAX Quinte Ltd. and the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation will join forces to host the third annual Teeing Up Fore Health Care golf classic at the Picton Golf and Country Club in support of priority medical equipment purchases for the County hospital.

Wilkinson & Company LLP, Chartered Accountants and Tax Specialists will again champion the golf classic at the title level sponsoring $5,000 toward supporting the tournament.

“This tournament offers the opportunity to come together as a community in support of the current need to raise money for replacement medical equipment needs at PECMH. The money raised will have a direct impact on County residents and visitors and the health care they receive,” said Jeff Snider, CPA CA and partner with Wilkinson & Company. “As a firm that is dedicated to community service, Wilkinson & Company has a special interest in ensuring that when not-for-profit organizations, like the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation succeed, we help improve the quality of care patients receive at the hospital.”

Net proceeds will be directed to the PECMH Foundation to assist with the purchase of a monitor upgrade to the telemetry (heart monitoring) unit used in the emergency department at a cost of $41,558.

“Our Foundation raises money to purchase medical equipment needed for patient care at PECMH. Each year our County hospital staff treats more than 18,000 patients in our emergency department with approximately 1,000 admitted for further care, many for medical conditions such as heart attacks,” said Monica Alyea, chair of the Foundation. “Our goal is to build partnerships in the County with businesses and others who will work with us to meet the needs of our fundraising actions. We are proud of RE/MAX’s efforts in support of our hospital.”

Alyea noted the dedication of sponsors helps maximize proceeds for the tournament and helps deliver care for patients.

“Wellings of Picton, Parkside Landscaping and Contracting, Taskforce Engineering and MarketHigh Advertising have chipped in their commitment to our County Hospital through sponsoring the tournament at the $2,500 level.

Hole sponsorships are also being sold for $150 each and are a fun, feel good way to increase visibility for businesses.

Registration on June 13 will begin at 11 a.m. Golfers will hit the links for a 1p.m. shotgun start to enjoy 18 holes on the well-manicured, picturesque course in Picton. Entry into the tournament costs $150 per golfer. Fee includes golf, power cart, meals and take-away gift.

Registration is now open. Call Briar at 613-476-1008 ext. 4425 to participate. The classic is open to 100 golfers on a first-come, first-served basis so register early to avoid disappointment. Volunteers in various capacities are also needed to help throughout the day.
