The “Bay in a new way” campaign is to inform people that the Bay of Quinte is a success story. The Bay of Quinte Remedial Action Plan’s (BQRAP) ecosystem approach is successfully rehabilitating the Bay. The Bay in a new way, relates to the 10 environmental challenges (Beneficial Use Impairments – BUI) the BQRAP has been working to restore.

There are 10 ads that will appear throughout the year. Collect all 10 ads and email or snail mail them to the Bay of Quinte Remedial Action Plan and your name will be entered in a draw to win a fishing charter for 4 people from Bay of Quinte Charters www.bayofquintecharters.com or one of 10 ultimate BQRAP swag bags. All the ads will be on the BQRAP web site.

There have been habitat enhancement and restoration programs to alleviate the loss of fish and wildlife habitat and over 800 hectares of wetland have been either rehabilitated or protected. Water quality has improved as evidenced by the types of water bugs, now found in the Bay. Today, the Bay is one of the most picturesque bodies of water in Lake Ontario. Fish and wildlife populations are healthy, diverse and abundant.

The Bay of Quinte Remedial Action Plan (BQRAP) is moving closer to its goal of removing the Area of Concern status from the Bay of Quinte. It is important to start focusing on the positive results BQRAP initiatives have made to the Bay’s ecosystem. There is still work to do, but we need to start thinking about the long-term actions that will instill a culture of eternal vigilance about the Bay.

Remember, the Bay is a success story and everyone can take actions to keep it healthy. Don’t miss out on the ultimate RAP swag bag. Click on the ads below and hit print… save it and you could WIN!  Visit www.bqrap.ca or call 613-394-3915 ext 214 for details.
