Tune for Twoon concerts benefit high school music departments

An acoustic concert tour with four of the area’s best and brightest musical teenagers has been launched to benefit Quinte area high school music departments.
Producer Brent Bodrug, of Sly-Fi Chapel recording studio, in association with MIX97
are presenting the events.
“A Tune for a Twoon” features four emerging young singer/songwriters and promises to deliver a musical wallop the Quinte area has never before seen,” said Bodrug. “One hundred percent of the revenue generated from the $2 admission will be donated to the host school’s music department. At special attendance plateaus, Sly-Fi Chapel in association with Steinberg Media Technologies and Yamaha Music Canada will donate recording equipment and tutorial DVDs to the schools. The school
that raises the most money through attendance will host a ‘live-to-air breakfast with the MIX97 morning crew’ from their school’s cafeteria. McDonald’s has offered to
donate breakfast for the live-to-air event, and the winning school will also be provided a special recording workshop hosted by Dave Miner, Steinberg/Yamaha product specialist.”

Brooke Bruce – a 15 year-old PECI student whose songwriting rivals that of her musical
heroes. She has been earning standing ovations and rave reviews for her performances at local talent competitions such as Belleville Idol and Picton Rising Star.

Rikki Montgomery – A 16 year-old Bayside student whose song “Always” reached the #1
spot on the Mix 97 Top 6 at 6 countdown. The last local artist to achieve the #1 spot was Avril Lavigne.

Emily Workman – also 16 years-old and attending Bayside, Emily has been recently featured on the MIX97 morning show and CJBQ’s “Weekend Magazine” with host Sean Kelly. Her song “Teenage Drama Queen” is currently in rotation and has been heard on the Ryan Seacrest “at 40” show.

Chantel Johnston – a 15 year old High Skills music major at Napanee District Secondary
School who has been performing for live audiences with her band TST since her early teens. Following the concert, the students will be invited to participate in a question and answer session with all of the performers.
