This weekend! Two Days About Yesterday highlights history, heritage

two-days-about-yesterdayThe Prince Edward Historical Society is planning ‘Two Days About Yesterday’, a public exposition to promote the history and heritage of Prince Edward County and the Quinte region.

The not‐for‐profit event June 18-19 will feature guided tours of local heritage sites, audio-video presentations by history and heritage experts and a ‘trade show’ at the Wellington Community Centre’s Highline Hall where visitors will be invited to visit the booths of companies and organizations involved in the promotion and preservation of history and heritage. Other highlights include volunteers dressed in heritage and period costumes who will greet visitors and answer questions, and heritage‐style refreshments will be available to sample.

“For the first time, a broad range of local companies and organizations involved in history and heritage – both commercial and not‐for‐profit — will have the opportunity to exhibit their products or services, promote memberships and explain their organizations’ activities to the general public,” said Steve Ferguson, president of the PEHS.

In addition to the exhibits, ‘Two Days About Yesterday’ will feature presentations by local authors or experts in their fields, including Ian Robertson, Krista Richardson, Ernie Margetson and Marc Seguin.  The full schedule of speakers is yet to be announced.

Tours in Sunday’s line-up so far include Glenwood Cemetery with actors telling the stories of cemetery ‘residents’, and Camp Picton will be brought back to life by walking around the grounds and through the buildings of the landmark.

Additional information is available at the event’s website at by email to, or by contacting Steve Ferguson by telephone at 613.476.9104.
