Walk trails at Glenwood Cemetery – respecting social distance rules

Walking trails are open in Glenwood Cemetery in Picton, but changes are in effect for how services and funerals during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Bereavement Authority of Ontario, the regulatory body for funeral operators, cemeteries and crematoriums, has been monitoring the coronavirus outbreak and has issued directives for the operation of funeral homes and cemeteries to help protect staff and families from the risk of infection.

Graveside services are limited to 10 or fewer people. This limitation is difficult for grieving families so the cemetery asks that thos walking by show respect by avoiding the area where a burial is taking place.

The public is welcome to walk the trails in Glenwood, maintaining social distancing (six-foot) and keep moving. Picnic tables remain in storage for a while longer and benches are taped off. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash and their waste is to be picked up after them.

The Glenwood Cemetery office is closed to the public but meetings with families continue by phone or by appointment to arrange burials. People with general inquiries or non-immediate service needs can call 613-476-3511 or email info@glenwoodcemetery.ca
