Want a Town Hall meeting on wind issue?

The County is suffering two simultaneous body blows. The first is the approval of the nine turbines at Ostrander Point and the other the QHC proposals for Picton Memorial Hospital. It’s time for County residents who care passionately for our way of life to get together and say so – loud and clear.

Preliminary notice has been given of a public meeting  to be held on February 27 on the hospital issues. So far as the wind factory is concerned, if you believe with me that a Town Hall meeting would serve a useful purpose, then please e-mail me at gmanning@xplornet.com to say so.

With a positive response, my colleagues and I will arrange such a meeting in the largest venue available and invite the Premier, her relevant Ministers and the local and national media.

The recent preliminary hearing of the Environmental Review Tribunal at the Picton Town Hall confirms that we’ve been pushed around and silent long enough.

Maybe fed up and Donna are the same person
Remember Gilead has to get their message out.
Weneed all those IWT’s so we can flood the power grid and make the taxpayers fork out more money than they do now.
I guess thet are putting a natural gas plant near Napanee to take the place of the one they cancelled near Oakville. We already have a gas fired plant at Lennox that is hardly ever used.
We need to have Kathkeen Wynne at a Town Hall so we can tell her what a mess McGinty has made of Ontario.

  2. Marnie says:

Another fine example of your gracious manner Fed-Up. You just ooze warmth and charm. Please don’t worry about meeting me. I am sure that we do not move in the same circles. My friends go to public meetings and stand up for what they believe in when their community is threatened. Have a lovely day raining on parades.

  3. Lori Cairns says:

By the way, fed up, it is impossible to give any serious thought to your comments while you hide in anonymity.

  4. Lori Cairns says:

Take that comment from fed up as an affirmation that you are on a good path, Marnie.

All it takes for evil to succeed is for good people to do nothing.

Question, question, question. Follow the money trail ALWAYS.

  5. fed up says:

I hope I never meet you, Marnie. I find you repellent.

  6. Marnie says:

It is apathy like yours that makes it easy for government to do as it likes, Fed Up. It is never pointless to stand up for a good cause. I guess we won’t be seeing you at a Town Hall Meeting should one take place but rest assured that your negativity will not be missed.

  7. Cheryl Anderson says:

Dear Fed Up: Pointless? I don’t think so. when the MTO decided to charge for the Glenora ferry. County people rose up and protested – and now we do not have to pay to cross to Adolphustown. When Canada Post decided that we should all get our mail from corner mail boxes – we said No! Going “up street” to get our mail is part of our way of life and we want to continue doing that – and Canada Post backed down. We have a tradition of independance here. we have the right to have a say in what is going to happen in the County. Don’t be “fed up” get involved!

  8. fed up says:

A town meeting? To accomplish what? Pointless.

  9. Agneta Sand says:

Yes, have a town hall meeting!

  10. m york says:

Exactly, I am sure we are quite capable of dealing with more than one hot issue here in the County! Unlike the character in the Wellington Times where the CAO is saying, “Its to hard”, Great job/picture it brought on a lot of laughs but him home at the same time.

  11. Louise says:

Come on Donna we know whose side you are on. Some of us wonder why you are so pro Gilead. Ihave been told you were a birding expert at one time.

  12. Marnie says:

I think all of us are capable of focusing on a town hall meeting and a campaign to save our hospital. It’s not an either/or call

  13. Renee says:

This is a great idea, it would be nice to have Kathleen attend so she can explain why turbines are going up in a location where the majority of the population voted not to have them. Since no construction has actually started this is the perfect opportunity for her to show us that she is committed to letting the local government have more say on these projects.

Is she any different than Dalton McGuinty? Only time will tell.

  14. Donna says:

I agree with Don. Focus on our hospital and health care.

  15. Jim McPherson says:

A Town Hall Turbine Meeting is a great idea, particularly if we can get our new Premier to come and tell us, the County people, what she is going to do about the Rural Ontario Mess that she has inherited.

We need to hear how Kathleen Wynne is going to restore our democracy, and how she plans to remove the looming Big Wind threat to our health, our life savings, our livelihood, and our wildlife.

  16. Mark says:

Well when there are no turtles, birds, natural environment and peace of mind and health on your own property all the hospitals in the world won’t help.

  17. don slow says:

Bad idea. Give it a rest and lets focus on the hospital issue. Rather see this in the spotlight then turtles and birds. Just Sayin !!!

  18. Doris Lane says:

Great idea to have a town hall meeting on Wind Turbine issue
