Water will be off temporarily on Talbot Street Wednesday

The original notice stated the water service interruption would end at 10 am. That is incorrect. The interruption is expected to last until 4 pm. The release below has been corrected. Sorry for any confusion.

A temporary water service interruption is planned for Wednesday, Aug. 28 as part of the ongoing Talbot Street reconstruction in Picton.

Planned installation of a new watermain and valves on Talbot, resulting in water service interruption, is expected to begin at approximately 9 am on and expected to be completed by 4 pm the same day.

The water shutdown will occur along Talbot north of Ackerman Street to the north leg of Argyle Crescent.

Customers directly affected by the interruption will receive a hand-delivered notice. Customers in the affected area are encouraged to store some potable drinking water for use during the interruption.

This planned work is not expected to impact water quality; however, residents living in the area will experience intermittent interruptions to water service between the hours of 9 am and 10 am, and they may experience coloured water when water service is restored.

To address pressure loss and the potential of coloured water, customers are encouraged to flush their water lines at the cold water tap nearest to the water meter once work is complete and regular water service is restored.

Lane restrictions along Talbot Street between Ackerman Street and the north leg of Argyle Crescent will be in place for the duration of the work. Motorists are asked to avoid the construction area if possible.
