Weapons seized in Athol search warrant

A search warrant at an Athol home Thursday resulted in weapons charges for a 39-year-old Prince Edward County resident.
At approximately 2 p.m. the Prince Edward County OPP Detachment Crime Unit, Canine Unit and Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) executed a search warrant at a County Road 11 residence. Police seized an SKS semi automatic rifle, a Savage semi automatic rifle, a double barrel break action shot gun and an assortment of affiliated ammunition.
The man has been charged with unauthorized possession, careless storage and possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized.
He was released and is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on Feb. 26.
