Welcome Rev. Whitney back to Picton Hospital

Many of us were delighted to hear that Rev. Audrey Whitney has been reinstated as the chaplain for our hospital. You may remember that Rev. Whitney was fired by QHC approximately one year ago as she was the only paid QHC chaplain. Her salary at the time was $12,000 per annum. Of interest, there is still a minister at QHC Belleville who is the spiritual care co-ordinator for all four QHC sites. I believe she receives a stipend for this service.
To be clear, QHC has reinstated Rev. Audrey Whitney as a volunteer hospital chaplain with no remuneration. I recently had a resident tell me that a good friend passed away at PECMH and Rev. Whitney was there almost immediately to comfort her. Many of us who know Rev. Audrey know that whenever possible, she is always available for PECMH patients and their families in their time of need.
To quote a line from the musical ‘Hello Dolly’, “Audrey, it’s so nice to have you back where you belong”!
