July 3 – TD Summer Reading Club Preschool Aged Program – Nature Play at the Bloomfield Branch library.

July 3 – 2:00pm TD Summer Reading Club Preschool Aged Program – Nature Play at the Milford Branch library.

July 4-12 – Free Family Fishing Week – To encourage families to explore the great outdoors, Ontarians can fish without buying a licence during Family Fishing Week from July 4-12.

July 4-5 – County Storytelling Festival Series  launch at Macaulay Church in Picton featuring “true stories that are true County”. The July series will offer three unique stories and will be followed by more original tales Aug 1 & 2 and Nov 14 & 15th at 2:00pm. Tickets are $20 adults & $12 kids (12 & under). Tickets are available at Books & Co on Main Street in Picton or from Suzanne at 613-476-2252.

JULY 4 – Wild About Wildlife – Quinte Conservation education staff host Wild About Wildlife Family Nature Day at the Wellington Park, Main St., from 11 am to 3 pm. Each child will also make a plant pot and take home a seedling to plant in their gardens to help pollinators. Activities include learning about water bugs and water quality; meeting bird experts and their falcon friends; live reptiles; discovering what lives in Lake Ontario; nature games, activities, and scavenger hunts. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Free of charge.

July 4 – AVRO ARROW – 1pm at the Mariners Park Museum, there will be a talk on the Avro Arrow, with a slide presentation and display about the testing of the Arrow in the County. Discover the Avro skid marks in Lake Ontario with professional diver Ed Burtt who will talk about the building of the Avro at Malton and the search for the prototypes fired from Pt Petre. Admission is $5. Refreshments will be served. Call 476-8392 to make a reservation

JULY 4 – Annual Fish Fry and Auction at Mariners Park Museum – A wonderful evening with great music and fine company on the atmospheric grounds of the Mariners Park Museum! Tickets must be purchased in advance. Large silent auction. Call for details – 613 -476-8392. Opening of new exhibit: First County Trading Post at 1pm.

July 4 – 11:00am TD Summer Reading Club School Aged Program – Create-a-Sport at the Consecon branch library.

July 4 – 2pm TD Summer Reading Club School Aged Program – Create-a-Sport at the Ameliasburgh branch library.

July 5 – Salvation Army new display – noon to 1 pm opening of the 130th Anniversary of the Picton Salvation Army display at Macaulay Church Museum. Refreshments will be served in the house following the opening.

July 7 – 10 am Knit & Chat Drop in at the Milford branch library.

July 7 – ENTERPRISE SCHOONER display – 1pm at Sandbanks park at the site of the old Lake Land Resort that was run by the MacDonald family, will be the opening of a display, which includes the anchor from the Enterprise Schooner, on loan from the Mariners Museum. The Enterprise ran aground in 1882 near West Point.

July 7 – 3pm Make a Pact! with the John Howard Society of Belleville – at the Picton branch library.

July 8 – Wellington free movie night showing “Still Alice” 7 p.m. at the library.
