Clean up from a strong wind storm Sunday into Monday begins and several pockets of Prince Edward County are without power. Click here for the Hydro One Storm Centre updates

A section of Doxsee Road in Sophiasburgh, between Jericho Road and County Road 14, is closed due to several downed hydro poles. Hydro One is estimating that the road closure will last a few days.

There are several reports of downed trees, branches and wind damage to structures.

Duarte Da Silva shared a photo on Facebook of the salt dome, heavily damaged, at County Roads 2 and 19.

Cheryl Shannon shared a photo of a tree down at the Mariner’s Musuem in South Bay.

Environment Canada is forecasting winds will continue today, seeing 50km/h with guests to 70 and diminishing to 20 km/h with gusts up to 40 overnight. There’s a 40 per cent chance of rain showers or flurries Tuesday, with wind gusts up to 50km/h.

  1. Sam Lanfranco says:

The Mariners Museum wind downed tree pictured in Countylive fell directly on top of the indigenous White Pine that the Museum’s volunteer committee planted in 2017 to commemorate Canada’s 150th birthday, and as a memorial to Stan Russell, a former volunteer committee chair. With the help and concern of the County (Jennifer Lyons) and the debris removal crew, the fallen poplar tree was removed without further damage to the young memorial White Pine. Thanks to all.
