Wind warning continues with gusts expected to diminish in evening

Trees and branches are coming down and Blue Boxes and debris are appearing on roads and dooryards as powerful wind continues Wednesday afternoon.

There are power outages to more than 10,000 Prince Edward County residents. Hydro One’s outage map estimates restoration after 5 p.m. though some have already been restored.

A wind warning continues with gusts as high as 100 km/h expected to diminish slowly this evening.

The County reports tree limbs and branches have fallen on several roadways, and access may be partially or fully blocked due to debris.

The municipality encourages motorists to drive with caution as the strong winds are expected to continue through this evening.

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation has taken the Glenora Ferry out of service due to the high winds.

Power was out at Wellington and District Community Centre this afternoon. The municipality closed the walking track as a safety precaution. Hydro One estimated power would be restored by 5:30 pm this evening.
