You could be collecting all this rain for your garden! Rain barrel sale

Don’t let your garden dry out this summer when you can order a rain barrel to collect water.

Rain barrels are available for order on the Quinte Conservation website until May 4 to support the Adopt An Acre program.

“This rain barrel sale is a win-win for residents and the local environment,” said Jennifer May Anderson, of Quinte Conservation. “Rain barrels help to provide free irrigation for gardens as well as reduce harmful runoff into our local waterways. I’m sure most people remember the dry summer we had last year. Having a rain barrel means that you can still have water available for your garden or other uses in a time of drought.”

Rain barrels are $55 each and can be ordered online by May 4 and will be ready for pick up on May 12 in Belleville. Each rain barrel includes a leaf and mosquito filter basket, an overflow adaptor, a spigot and an overflow hose. Downspout diverters, stands and flower pots are also available for purchase.”

Pre-ordered rain barrels will be available for pick up on May 12 at Potter’s Creek Conservation Area in Belleville from noon pm to 6pm. Buyers will be able to pick up barrels in the parking lot on the south side of Highway 2.

Quinte Conservation’s Adopt An Acre program will receive $10 from every rain barrel sold and $2 from each downspout diverter, stand or flower pot sold. The Adopt An Acre program helps to preserve and protect local natural heritage lands.

Quinte Conservation is a community-based environmental protection agency serving 18 municipalities in the watersheds of the Moira, Napanee and Salmon Rivers and Prince Edward County. More information about Quinte Conservation is available at
