Local youth aged 15 – 25, are invited to apply to participate in the Festival Players Young Company – a hands-on career opportunity for youth with an aptitude for or experience in theatre.
“It’s a great opportunity to really get involved in all aspects of professional production, to get out there in front of an audience to hone your skills, “ says Artistic Director Sarah Phillips. “The participants get to work with such outstanding artists. It’s a unique opportunity, like a paid internship with perks.”
Workshops. With the support of Theatre Ontario’s Youth Theatre Training Program, Festival Players is pleased to offer Young Company members the opportunity to work intensively with skilled specialists in a variety of elements of stage performance. Past workshops have included everything from mask to clown work, audition prep to stilt-walking, Shakespeare to voice.
Performance. In 2016 the Young Company will be performing with Fixt Point on their new stage production of Tale of a Town: Prince Edward County, one of the mainstage shows in the season. Stories collected by Fixt Point in 2015, from all across the County, form the jumping-off point for this exciting and celebratory piece.
There are limited spaces available in this popular and rewarding apprenticeship program. Young Company members are paid an honorarium. Participants must be available for the entirety of the program (June 21 – Aug 30) and be able to arrange transportation to all of their workshops, shows, etc.
Apply by email to auditions@festivalplayers.ca by 5pm on Friday, April 29th. Auditions are in early May. Interested applicants can check on-line at http://festivalplayers.ca/young-company for application requirements (CV, reference letters, audition details, etc).
