100 People Who Care Prince Edward County supported the County’s Alternatives for Women program in this quarter’s giving.
The group is based on the simple concept of bringing together a group of 100+ people who commit to meet four times per year, contribute $100 at each meeting, and make a huge impact on a local charity.
Alternatives for Women offers transitional/second-stage housing to women leaving abusive relationships.
Watson notes they are often coming from emergency shelter and are looking for a safe place to go while they process their experiences, and plan for their future, free of violence.
“Last year we housed 15 women and 13 children while assisting them to find safe and permanent housing. We are not funded for our transitional housing and rely on incredible donations like this from our generous community. These funds will help us maintain our transitional housing and continue to keep our clients safe. We cannot thank 100 people who care enough for this donation and the amazing work they do in our community.”
The 100 People Who Care group welcomes members. The group first formed in 2015 and has since injected more than $40,000 each year into the PEC community. Visit the website to learn more
