Grade 9 girls from Prince Edward Collegiate Institute focused on building self-esteem during a day of workshops and activities at Wesley Acres in Bloomfield this week.
“The purpose of the day is to build self esteem and discuss pertinent issues facing female high school students, including bullying, personal health and well-being,” said Caryn Phoenix-Renz, PECI guidance counsellor. “It is our hope the day will provide our girls with an exceptional start to their high school career and that they will build bonds with other girls that will be positive and lasting.”
Most importantly, she said, “We want them to know there are safe places to ask questions in our school. We have a lot of great resources.”
